Our founder, Phyllis Combs, was faced with an impossible situation when her neighbor who had cared for feral cats passed away, leaving 20+ cats without a caretaker. Having worked with animal shelters for 12+ years at the time, Phyllis knew that because the cats were feral, they would be deemed ‘unadoptable’ — so their best chance was for Phyllis to socialize/rehabilitate them herself (with the help of her husband, Don, of course). Realizing she was uniquely qualified to do this challenging work, Phyllis turned an unfortunate situation into an opportunity and Cat Kids Rescue was born.
Today Cat Kids Rescue saves more than 1,400 cats per year.
Adoption hours are held
every day at the PetSmart in Largo & by appointment at the PetSmart in Tyrone Mall
